Forget Tuscany. Welcome to Basilicata. This southern Italian province which neighbours Puglia, is home to the Lucan Dolomites and these two darling twin villages, Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa. Both villages are known for their dramatic setting- perched high in the mountains surrounded by rocky peaks but they are highly accessible and filled with fantastic things to do, including Italy’s longest zip line. Yes, you can zip line across the mountains from one village to the other! And… located just an hour drive from Matera, there’s no excuse not to visit.
