The Best Beaches in Dubrovnik Old Town
Banje Beach
As the largest and arguably the nicest beach in Dubrovnik, Banje Beach is a favorite among both locals and tourists. With easy access from the Old Town, it’s the perfect spot to rent a lounger, lay down a towel, and bathe in its crystal clear, turquoise water.
Its proximity to the historic city walls makes it an ideal spot for a post-sightseeing dip or a lazy afternoon in the sun.
However, with great beauty comes great popularity—Banje Beach gets quite busy. To secure a prime spot on its pebbly shore, arriving early is wise.
Sveti Jakov Beach
For those seeking a more tranquil slice of Dubrovnik’s stunning coastline, Sveti Jakov Beach is the perfect escape. Tucked away a bit further from the bustling old town, this hidden gem offers a serene retreat away from the crowds.
Its off-the-beaten-path location makes it a beloved spot among locals who cherish its relative seclusion and breathtaking views of the old town and Lokrum Island.
Visitors can rent sun loungers and umbrellas to bask in comfort, and the beach bar serves up refreshing drinks and snacks to keep you fueled for a day of relaxation. Adventurous types can indulge in various water sports, including kayaking and paddleboarding.
The beach is easily reached on foot from Dubrovnik Old Town or by Uber or local bus and while it may seem a little further away compared with other beaches on this list, it’s worth the extra effort as arguably one of the best Dubrovnik Croatia beaches.

Top Tips for Visiting Dubrovnik’s Beaches
– Parking is generally very limited at most of the best beaches in Dubrovnik and in the Dubrovnik area in general. To get to the beaches that are too far to walk, I’d recommend using Uber, rather than driving.
– At some of the more hidden gem beaches, there isn’t much infrastructure so it’s best to pack in what you might need for the day. Bring lots of sunscreen, a sun hat, your own beach towel, and plenty of water.
– Arrive early at popular beaches like Banje and Sulic Beach as they get very crowded during the summer months.
– Make sure to book a spot at Coral Beach Club and the Buza Bars well in advance of your time in Dubrovnik.
– Many of Dubrovnik’s best places are pebbly or rocky beaches. Wearing water shoes can make walking and swimming more comfortable.
– Help keep Dubrovnik’s beaches pristine by picking up after yourself and leaving no trace.
