Europe Greece Travel Guides

The Best Beaches in Paros, Greece

(Last Updated On: April 28, 2021)

Many people visit the Greek Islands each year for a variety of different reasons and each island offers something unique to every visitor. From the beautiful white-washed villages with blue-domed churches, ocean-view villas and pretty beaches. Greece has something for everyone. The island of Paros, while not yet as popular as its sister island Mykonos, draws in travellers looking for cute villages, sandy beaches and watersports. It’s safe to say that Paros has some seriously lovely beaches, perfect for relaxing on, catching some rays or catching up on your reading.

Unlike some other Greece Islands, most Paros Greece beaches are long and sandy, making them perfect for anyone who doesn’t fancy sliding off a huge boulder to get into the ocean. The best beaches in Paros are located towards the more populated northern and eastern parts of the island even though you can find lovely beaches in the West and South too. After spending almost a week on the island and doing a fair amount of beach hopping during this time, this is my compilation of the best beaches in Paros that are really worth your time.

GETTING AROUND

It’s extremely easy to get around Paros and to hop from beach to beach exploring the island on your own. For this, however, your own transportation is essential. There are buses on the island but they will only take you from one town to the next and taxis are an option by they are expensive.  I highly recommend renting a car or even a scooter like I did. You can rent a car from Parikia or Naoussa or any of the other major towns or sometimes even through your hotel. This will allow you to drive around and access all the beaches in your own time.

Planning a trip to Paros? Make sure you’re in the know! Check out my Complete Guide to Things to Do in Paros.

BEST BEACHES IN PAROS

KOLYMPETHRES BEACH

This is one of the most popular beaches in Paros and it was one of my favourites. Kolympethres beach is actually made up of a couple of small sandy beaches lying between massive granite boulders. Park yourself on a sun lounger or on top of a rock and jump right into some of the clearest turquoise water Greece has to offer. There are a couple of restaurants across from the beach so when you feel peckish just head over from some deliciously fresh Greek Salad, grilled veggies and some much-needed shade.

MONASTIRI BEACH

Once you’re ready to move on from Kolympethres beach, keep heading north along the same road to get to Monastiri beach. First, you’ll find a gorgeous blue-domed church, perfect for some photos and a few minutes later you’ll find the beach. Here there’s a small resort where you can rent out the deck chairs, sofas or booths for the day and you can eat and drink there too. For those who aren’t able to sit on a beach all day, there is a short hike that begins at this beach leading to various viewpoints along the northern peninsula of the island. You can walk to the cute Korakas lighthouse for a panoramic view of the Aegean sea.

LAGERI BEACH

This beach is located across the bay from Monastiri. To get here you’ll have to drive to Naoussa and continue West from there. It’s not a very popular beach- in fact, it was deserted when I arrived in the late afternoon, probably because the access isn’t too great. When you find it you’ll have to walk over some sand dunes to get to the beach itself. The beach is beautiful but it has a completely wild feel to it. No easy access and no people around giving it a sense of magic and liberty. There are no shops or restaurants nearby, so if you’re planning to spend some time here I would strongly suggest bringing all the water you need and some snacks. Due to its western orientation, it’s a great place to watch the sunset so you may want to stick around until then.

  • Lageri Beach, Paros island.
  • Walk down to Ligeri beach - best beaches on Paros.

SANTA MARIA BEACH

This is the beach for watersports in Paros, Greece. Just a short distance from Lageri beach Santa Maria is another great option for an afternoon in the sun. This beach is famous for its watersports so if you fancy taking up a new hobby this is the place to come. If not, you’ve got sun-beds to rent and calm, turquoise water to swim in. This beach does get extremely windy so do avoid on blusterous days.

MOLOS BEACH

This gorgeous beach is located halfway down the island on the East Coast. It’s long, wide and golden and has virtually no waves making it perfect for families and watersports. I highly encourage you to explore the gorgeous church located on one side and when you’re done, come back to the beach and relax the afternoon away. When you become restless you can rent a kayak, windsurf or paddleboard and go test your skills in the water. There are a few restaurants attached to guesthouses that I saw but they didn’t seem that reliable in terms of whether they actually served food. I’d recommend you bring something to eat and drink when coming out to this part of the island or visit the irresistible town of Marpissa for lunch.

  • Molos Beach Paros

KALOGEROS BEACH

This wonderful beach, a short walk from Molos Beach, is surrounded by towering red-orange cliffs, pebbles and clear, fresh water. The colour contrast between the cliffs and the water resemble an artists palette at the ready. There’s not much else to do here but relax, read a book and swim in the refreshing water.

ALIKI BEACH

For one of the best Paros Greece beaches head to Aliki. It is further from the main towns than most of the others on this list being located in the South of the island but it’s totally worth the added effort. The turquoise waters here are heavenly and the shore extends for ages without getting deep- not so great for swimming but perfect to just sit in and cool off. There are also a few restaurants nearby to grab some lunch as well as some opportunities for yoga. If you’re planning to head to Aliki, check out Aliki Yoga School for some beachside yoga opportunities or for one of their retreats if you wish to stay longer.

TOP TIPS FOR VISITING PAROS’ BEACHES

↠ All beaches in Paros are public, meaning that can be accessed by anyone for free.

↠ At all beaches I found parking to be free (for a scooter). This should also be the case for cars too or you might be charged a small fee.

↠ Sun loungers normally cost between 15-20 euro a pair. If you’re travelling on a budget I suggest you pack a beach towel that you can lay down anywhere.

↠ In the summer, temperatures in Paros are very high. Make sure you bring sun protection, a hat and enough water to last you for the day.  Stores are often few and far between and are located mainly inside the towns.

If you have any questions or comments about the best beaches in Paros then please leave them below- I’d love to hear from you.

They are. They are all really calm and virtually have no waves. Only on some can you find certain activities- but they are almost always watersports.

English summer camera roll 🇬🇧While most Brits yearn to be out of the country for the summer, it’s been a good 10 years since I spent a summer in London. Safe to say it’s nice being back at this time of year and enjoying everything the UK has to offer. ✨To those asking no I will not be staying once it gets cold 😅#britishsummer #britishsummertime #summerinbritain #englandtravel #ukpotd

One of the things I love about travel? Never really knowing where you’ll end up. You can plan every little detail in an itinerary and still end up somewhere unexpected. We never planned to end up in Lecce but this fascinating mini-Rome in Southern Italy could not have been more stunning. Filled with baroque architecture, stone alleyways and the most magical centro storico, Lecce is a definite must! Make sure to add it to your southern Italy itinerary. Where was the last place you visited that blew you away? #lecce #leccecity #igerslecce #lecceitaly #lecceview
