11 Best Beaches Near Ostuni, Puglia
Looking for the best beaches in Ostuni, Italy? Keep reading as I give a rundown of the best spots near Ostuni to throw down a towel.
While Ostuni might be known for its white, calcareous walls and snaking stone streets, just beyond its ancient heart lies a stretch of coastline that can rival any for its sheer beauty and tranquility.
The beaches near the āWhite Cityā of Puglia offer a large amount of golden, sandy beaches and hidden coves, where the Adriatic Sea washes ashore in a perfect blend of turquoise and deep blue, making a beach day in Ostuni a must.
As an expat living in Ostuni, these Ostuni beaches are my personal favorites and the ones we go to throughout the year. Iāve explored so many beaches on this coastline, looking for hidden gems, in particular, to personally be able to escape from the summer crowds- these are the best Iāve found over the years.
Most of these Ostuni beaches are within 14 kilometers ( 8 miles) of Ostuni so you neednāt drive far to access the sea.
My favorite beaches near Ostuni Italy are Torre Guaceto (outside the peak summer months) and Torre Pozzelle.
For those planning a trip to Puglia for the first time, itās worth noting that Ostuni is not a seaside town like Polignano a Mare or Monopoli. Itās located over three hilltops about 8 km or 15 minutes drive from the sea inland. The beaches are not walkable from town.

Best Beaches in Ostuni, Puglia
Torre Pozzelle ā The Best Cove Beach in Ostuni
Torre Pozzelle Beach was a bit of a hidden gem but word is getting out.
This coastal treasure is characterized by its unique landscape of small rocks interspersed with stretches of soft, golden sand. The azure waters here are not only a stunning shade of blue but also crystal clear, offering an inviting place to spend hours in the water.
Adding to the beachās charm are several natural wells, formed by rainwater, dotting the landscape. Around the beach, youāll also find a lovely variety of Mediterranean vegetation like junipers and Aleppo pines.
This wild, untouched sanctuary of beauty owes its name to a historic tower, erected as a defense against Saracen pirate invasions which you can explore freely.
Youāll find plenty of parking at Torre Pozzelle, but arrive early in the summer months. The sandy beach here is small so if thereās no space on Torre Pozelle beach itself, try walking a little up or down the coast to find a quieter little cove.
Thereās one cafe here that serves coffee, drinks, and snacks otherwise itās a good idea to pack your beach supplies.
Spiaggia di Lamaforca
Not far from Torre Pozzelle is Lamaforca Beach, another pristine beach known for its crystal-clear waters and fine, golden sand.
This beach near Ostuni offers a tranquil escape where the gentle waves of the Adriatic Sea meet the Italian coast in perfect harmony. Encircled by lush Mediterranean vegetation, it provides a picturesque setting for sunbathers and swimmers alike.
Lamaforca is especially appreciated for its well-maintained facilities and family-friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure.
There isnāt too much here in terms of services, just some nearby kiosks. For lunch, bring your own beach picnic or head nearby to Torre Santa Sabina for a delicious seafood lunch or gelato.
Costa Merlata Beaches
Costa Merlata is a long area of coastline located between Villanova and Torre Santa Sabina. For the more adventurous and those looking to find their own little cove and get away from the summer crowds, these are the best beaches around Ostuni.
As the name suggests, the Costa Merlata beaches arenāt just one beach, there are many small beaches and coves to explore here. Head to the main village, park your car and go in search of all the lovely little coves in this area.
Itās worth noting that some of these coves have sandy beaches and others donāt- they are mostly rocky inlets which may not be suitable for families with small children. Either way, they make beautiful swimming spots and places for kayaking and snorkeling.
Torre Guaceto ā The Best Beach near Ostuni
While Torre Guaceto is the furthest beach from Ostuni on this list, make sure not to disregard it too quickly. This gorgeous, long beach is known not only for its clear waters but also for the WWF-protected nature reserve that surrounds it.
It is probably the best beach near Ostuni if not one of the best beaches in Puglia, Italy.
With its status as a protected area, Torre Guaceto has become a haven for wildlife, both in the sea and on land, making it an awesome place for snorkeling, bird watching, or just enjoying the untouched beauty of Italyās coastline.
While many come just for the beach, you can also take walks or go for a bike ride through the reserve in the off-season.
The beach is well-managed, with efforts focused on conservation and sustainable tourism, so you can feel good about your footprint while having a great time.
During the high season, to access Torre Guaceto, youāll need to park your car in a makeshift parking lot away from the beach (youāll be directed to it). From here a train/bus will take you to the beach. Parking costs around ā¬8 per day and the transfer is included in the fee.
Thereās also a lido on the beach here during the summer months, but thereās plenty of free sand space too if you want to skip it.
If youāre traveling in the off season, so October through May you can park right next to the beach, just come early as spaces are really limited.
Rosa Marina Beach
Rosa Marina is a splendid beach near Ostuni, the main beach belonging to the seaside village of the same name. With Torre San Leonardo on one end, this is a lovely, long sandy beach with crystal clear water thatās ideal for the whole family.
Outside of high season, itās ideal for long walks and refreshing swims.
Nearby youāll also find a few beach kiosks and bars for a mid-morning coffee or ice cold beer.

Creta Rossa
Creta Rossa or Red Crete, is a series of beautiful coves near Villanova, Ostuni each offering its unique charm. Itās a bit of a hidden gem and a real local spot. The best things to do here are to go for a walk and explore all the little rocky bays, relaxing and swimming.
Thereās also a scenic cycle path, winding its way along the coastline, ideal for those who wish to explore the beauty of the coast on foot or by bike.
Youāll also find an abandoned Art Nouveau villa, the Villa Baronessa Incalzi, dating back to the early 20th century.

Pilone Beach
Pilone Beach, just up the coast from Villanova and 20 minutes from Ostuni is another fantastic option for a beach day near Ostuni.
Itās an ideal spot for those looking to indulge in the simple joys of a beach picnic while surrounded by the natural beauty of lush Mediterranean scrub. Nature lovers will revel in the opportunity to observe the local fauna and avian life in this serene environment.
For the more active, donāt miss a beach walk to nearby Torre San Leonardo, an ancient watchtower common on the Adriatic coast of Puglia.
While Pilone Beach has many free spots to throw down a towel, there are a number of beach clubs that offer easy access to sun loungers and food and drink. Lido Bosco Verde is the best in the area.
After a morning at the beach book a spot for lunch at Nomade Ostuni, a boho, Tulum-esque spot and one of the best beach clubs near Ostuni, right of Pilone Beach for great food and even a bit of yoga and sound healing.
Parking at Pilone Beach is free and convenient and adds to the ease of access, making every visit stress-free.
Gorgognolo Beach
Gorgognolo Beach is a serene hideaway perfect for those seeking tranquility and an intimate connection with nature away from the crowds. This more secluded beach is not only ideal for soaking up the sun in a peaceful setting but also offers crystal-clear waters that are a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts and watersports lovers.
Surrounded by natural rock formations, Gorgognolo provides a stunning underwater landscape for exploring marine life, while its calm waters make it an excellent spot for various watersports.
Despite being less crowded than more well-known beaches, Gorgognolo Beach promises a day of adventure and relaxation, making it a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the untouched beauty of Ostuniās coastline.
Note that snorkeling gear generally isnāt easy to rent in Puglia unless youāre signing up for a snorkeling tour so you might want to bring your own if youāre here for the marine life.

Lido Morelli
Lido Morelli is a favorite beach destination for families and beachgoers from the whole region. This is one of the most popular, large sandy beaches in the area, embraced by the lush Mediterranean scrub, offering a natural retreat.
Its allure also lies in the shallow, crystal-clear waters where, on sunny days, itās comparable with the water you might see in the Maldives.
Moreover, Lido Morelli is part of a designated Natural Reserve, an area rich in native flora and fauna, perfect for a long sunset walk after a day at the beach.
At the lido, youāll be able to rent umbrellas and loungers and make the most of the bar. Otherwise, keep walking past the estuary and up the coast where youāll find plenty of space to relax.
While Lido Morelli is a beautiful beach, it gets packed in the summer months, so make sure to come early or make a note to visit this one outside July and August.
Mezzaluna Beach
Just outside Torre Santa Sabina, youāll find Mezzaluna Beach, a small beach in a little cove. This spot is ideal for those who want to stay fairly close to a town to have access to bars, restaurants and other facilities.
Nearby you also have Torre Santa Sabina Beach and if Mezzaluna Beach gets too busy during the summer months, try the beautiful little Spiaggia dellāIsoletta just a few minutes walk away.
Cala Quarto di Monte
Just 10 km away from the center of Ostuni, Quarto di Monte, is a charming little beach ideal for a lazy beach day. Known for its fine, pristine sand and clear water, itās a very relaxing spot during the day.
There arenāt too many parking spots here, nor are there many places for eating or drinking so I highly recommend bringing a picnic for a beach day here.
Bonus: Savelletri Beaches and Lido Ottagono
For those who donāt mind driving a little further up the coast, there are the beautiful little coves of Savelletri and beyond that Lido Ottagono.
Savellertri is a lovely little Puglian seaside town where youāll find plenty of gorgeous coves while also being close to some of the best beachside restaurants on this part of the coast.
Try booking a table for lunch at Osteria del Porto or a little further south, Alba Chiara. Il Principe del Mare also serves up some delicious octopus sandwiches.
A little further north Lido Ottagono, is one of the most popular lidos in the area, with super-cool, red parasols, and a pristine swimming spot thatās perfect for a day of lounging. Two loungers and an umbrella will set you back ā¬50 ā advanced booking online is necessary.

In general, I do recommend renting a car for traveling in Puglia as public transportation links are limited. Discover Cars is who we recommend for car rental in Italy and beyond.
