Best Airbnbs in Tulum: Thing to Know Before Booking Rentals

↠ Tulum is divided into two parts, Tulum town and Tulum beach. Most vacation rentals are located in Tulum town and you’ll need transportation to get to the beach i.e. bicycle or scooter. If you prefer to stay right on the beach, it’s better to book your stay in a boutique hotel or resort with booking.com. ↠ It’s really hot in Tulum so make sure to choose an Airbnb with a pool and at least a fan if not air conditioning, especially in summer. Swimming pools aren’t an expensive addition nor are they hard to find but they make all the difference in the sweltering heat.

↠ Many Tulum Airbnbs and VRBOs offer bike rental or free bikes so try to go with those. As most Airbnbs are situated in Tulum town, it’s a 20-minute bike ride from the centre of town to the beach (more from La Veleta). This will save you on taxis or having to rent bikes as an added extra. It’s not uncommon to have taxi drivers try to charge $100 just to get from Tulum town to the beach.

↠ Tulum is growing at an alarming rate and condos and buildings are going up like wildfire, eating into the jungle. If you choose to stay in a brand new condo it’s possible that there’s another one being built right next door, which might mean construction noise all day long.

One way to avoid this is to stay in areas that have already been built. Central La Veleta and Tulum town are mostly already built and so are all the resorts at the beach. You might want to stay away from parts of Aldea Zama and southern La Veleta as these are the newest areas that are currently seeing a lot of new builds.

↠ The best Airbnb in Tulum generally comes with lots of outdoor space or at least a hot tub or plunge pool, large and brightly lit rooms and open-plan kitchens and living rooms. Many rentals are in newly built condos that also have shared facilities like a gym, yoga studios and on-site restaurants.

Located on the edge of Tulum town, very close to Cenote Calavera this cabin is part of a 4-cabin complex, surrounded by jungle and a pool, perfect for a couple.

You’ll be woken up by the sound of birds chirping and the jungle waking. The cabin is simple and consists of a double bed, a centrepiece and a simple yet functional outdoor kitchen. The cabin comes with wifi and aircon. It really is the ultimate jungle hideaway at a really affordable price for Tulum.
