At the same time, the island’s accommodation scene has evolved just as quickly. What was once an island of simple guesthouses and family-run pensions is now home to a growing collection of stylish boutique hotels, design-led retreats, and luxury resorts that will soon rival those on Mykonos and Santorini, albeit with a far more relaxed atmosphere.

New openings arrive almost every season, but the best hotels still share the same appeal: intimate scale, knockout sea views, and a deep connection to the island’s wild, volcanic landscape. Here are my favorites to book for your trip.

Erema, a Member of Design Hotels – Erema is one of Milos’ newest luxury openings, bringing a refined, design-led aesthetic to the island’s rugged western coastline. Expect earthy materials, sweeping sea views, and a strong sense of privacy, with suites that feel effortlessly in tune with the volcanic landscape surrounding them.

Milos Cove – Tucked away on Milos’ wild northern coast, Milos Cove pairs sleek Cycladic architecture with serious privacy. Most suites come with their own plunge pool, while the hotel’s dramatic infinity pool and rocky private beach make it easy to spend an entire day without leaving the property.

Domes White Coast Milos – Adults-only and unapologetically stylish, Domes White Coast is all whitewashed curves, sea views, and private pools. The hotel sits directly opposite the lunar landscape of Sarakiniko, and its minimalist design manages to feel both contemporary and unmistakably Greek.

Artemis Seaside Resort – Artemis Seaside Resort brings a more social energy to Milos’ southern coast. Set directly on Paliochori Beach, it’s one of the few hotels on the island where you can step from your room onto the sand, spend the afternoon by a large pool lined with cabanas, and stay for sunset cocktails as the sky turns pink over the Aegean. Thavma Boathouse – If you’ve dreamed of staying in one of Milos’ iconic fishermen’s houses, Thavma Boathouse is the answer. Perched right at the water’s edge, it offers front-row seats to the Aegean, where mornings begin with a swim from your doorstep and evenings end listening to the waves beneath the terrace.

Terra Mare Suites – Terra Mare Suites strikes a lovely balance between boutique comfort and laid-back island living. The suites are bright and airy, with soft neutral tones and generous outdoor spaces, while the location makes it easy to explore both Pollonia and the island’s famous beaches.

Best Areas to Stay in Milos

Despite its growing popularity, Milos remains surprisingly spread out, and where you stay can shape your entire trip. Some areas put you close to restaurants and ferries, while others offer secluded beaches, luxury resorts, or a slower pace surrounded by nature.

The main areas to consider are:

• Adamantas (Adamas) – The island’s bustling port town and the most convenient base for first-time visitors, with plenty of restaurants, shops, hotels, and easy access to ferries and boat tours.
• Pollonia – A charming fishing village on the northeast coast that’s become Milos’ chicest address. Ideal for boutique hotels, waterfront dining, and a laid-back atmosphere with some of the island’s best restaurants.
• Plaka & Tripiti – The island’s traditional hilltop villages, known for whitewashed lanes, sunset views, and authentic Cycladic charm. A great choice if you prefer character and don’t mind being a short drive from the beaches.
• Paliochori & the South Coast – Home to several of Milos’ top resorts and some of its most beautiful beaches. Perfect if your priority is sea views, beach days, and staying somewhere a little more secluded.
• Fyriplaka Area & Western Milos – A quieter stretch of coastline with sandy beaches and a handful of stylish hotels and villas. Best for those seeking peace and easy access to the island’s famous southern beaches.

Pollonia

If you look at a map of Milos, at first, Pollonia may seem isolated and far from anything. In reality, the opposite is true. This charming fishing village on the island’s northeast coast is only around 15 minutes by car from Adamantas and within easy reach of many of Milos’ best beaches, making it one of the smartest places to base yourself.

Pollonia has a more refined atmosphere than the port town, with a pretty waterfront lined with tavernas, boutique hotels, and a handful of chic cafés and wine bars. The pace is slow and easy. Mornings start with a swim at the village beach, afternoons are spent exploring the island, and evenings revolve around long dinners by the sea.

It’s particularly well suited to couples and honeymooners, but really anyone looking for a relaxed stay with excellent restaurants and stylish accommodation will be happy here. Pollonia manages to feel both peaceful and connected, which is exactly why so many end up wishing they’d stayed longer ( I know I did).

Plaka & Tripiti

If you’re researching where to stay in Milos and picture yourself wandering whitewashed alleyways rather than spending every moment on the beach, Plaka and neighboring Tripiti are excellent choices.

Perched high above the sea in the island’s interior, these two villages offer a more traditional side of Milos, with winding lanes, bougainvillea-draped houses, and some of the best sunset views anywhere in the Cyclades. This is where I stayed on my first trip to Milos in 2019 and loved it.

Plaka is the island’s picturesque capital and has the most action, with atmospheric bars, boutique shops, and restaurants spilling onto tiny squares. Tripiti, just a few minutes away, is quieter and more residential, known for its windmills and proximity to landmarks like the ancient theatre and catacombs.

Neither village is directly on the beach, but with a rental car you’re rarely more than 15 or 20 minutes from the coast or a short drive from Klima, the perfect spot for sunset.

Adamantas (Port)

Adamantas (Adamas) is the main port of Milos and, for many, the most convenient place to stay on the island. It’s where ferries arrive, boat tours depart, and much of the island’s restaurants, cafés, shops, and services are concentrated. If it’s your first visit and you’re wondering where to stay in Milos, Adamantas is often the easiest and most practical choice, especially if you’re not on the island for long.

The town wraps around a sheltered bay, with a lively waterfront that’s especially pleasant in the evenings. Accommodation ranges from simple guesthouses to stylish boutique hotels, and you’ll find everything you need within walking distance, including supermarkets, pharmacies, and car rental offices.

While Adamantas doesn’t have the romantic atmosphere of Pollonia or the Cycladic charm of Plaka, it makes up for it with accessibility and convenience. It’s an excellent base if you’re planning boat trips, arriving without a car, or simply want to be at the center of the action.

Paliochori & the South Coast

If your dream of Milos involves waking up to uninterrupted sea views and spending most of the day barefoot, Paliochori and the island’s south coast are hard to beat. This stretch of coastline is home to some of Milos’ most beautiful beaches, including Paliochori, Provatas, and Fyriplaka, along with a growing number of stylish hotels that make the most of the island’s dramatic volcanic scenery.

The area is quieter than Pollonia or Adamantas, with fewer (but great) restaurants and shops, but that’s part of the appeal. Days here revolve around beach hopping, long lunches by the water, and lazy afternoons by the pool. A rental car is essential, though most of the island can still be reached within 20 to 30 minutes.

Fyriplaka & Western Milos

Fyriplaka itself is one of Milos’ most beautiful stretches of sand, backed by towering cliffs streaked with shades of red, yellow, and white.

Accommodation here is more spread out and often more luxurious, with boutique resorts and private villas perched above secluded bays. Properties like Skinopi Lodge and Milos Cove have helped put this side of the island on the map, offering privacy, exceptional sea views, and a sense of seclusion that’s increasingly hard to find in the Cyclades.
