Sóller is a beautiful destination nestled on the northwest coast of Mallorca. It’s surrounded by stunning mountains and the sparkling sea.
The town is known for its colorful architecture, narrow streets, and a laid-back atmosphere that invites travelers to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
There are plenty of things to do in Sóller, from visiting historic landmarks such as the Soller Cathedral and Can Prunera Museum of Modernism, to exploring the surrounding countryside on foot or bike.
You can also relax and indulge in the local cuisine at cafes and restaurants. Nature lovers can take a boat ride along the coast or hike to the top of Puig de l’Ofre.
There’s enough to do in Soller for a day trip from Palma de Mallorca or even longer.

Getting to Soller, Mallorca
Getting to Sóller from Palma and other parts of Mallorca is fairly easy and there are a few different options.
Train – The scenic train is one of the best ways to get to Soller from Palma. The vintage train ride is a destination in itself, as it winds through the picturesque countryside and offers stunning views of the Tramuntana Mountains.
The train departs from the Plaza de España station in Palma and runs several times a day, making it easy to fit into your schedule. Check all the information and train times here.
Bus – You can also take the bus from Palma to Sóller, which is a more budget-friendly option. The bus ride takes about an hour and offers some great views of the island’s scenery along the way.
Once you arrive in Soller, you can explore the town on foot or rent a bike to explore the surrounding countryside.
Car – If you’re planning to explore more of the island, which I highly recommend, you’ll want to rent a car for your trip. Car hire in Mallorca is very easy.
All the major car rental companies you’ll find at the airport making it easy to pick up your ride as you land. You can then head straight to your first destination.

The Best Things to Do in Soller, Mallorca
There are so many lovely things to do in Soller that will easily keep you busy for a day or two.
While everything in town can easily be seen in one day, I highly recommend staying around a little longer for some of the best hikes in Soller and a relaxing visit to Port de Soller.
Visit Soller Cathedral
Soller Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew, is a must-visit attraction in the town of Soller, Mallorca. The cathedral is an impressive example of local Gothic architecture, with its high bell tower and intricate stone carvings.
Originally constructed in the 13th century, this Roman Catholic church has undergone several significant transformations.
The most notable renovation occurred in the early 20th century when the renowned Catalan architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí, redesigned its façade in a striking Modernist style, blending Gothic elements with contemporary designs.
As you approach the main square you’ll easily be able to notice its imposing facade.
A visit inside is also worth a few euros. Inside, the cathedral is just as impressive, with its high ceilings, stained glass windows, and ornate altarpiece.
One of the highlights of the cathedral is the rose window, which is a masterpiece of medieval craftsmanship.
There are also many other religious artworks and sculptures scattered around the interior and you’ll be able to see them as you stroll around.
You can also visit the cathedral’s museum, which houses a collection of artifacts and treasures from the cathedral’s long and storied past.
You’ll find everything from ancient manuscripts to religious vestments on display.
Take a Ride on the Historic Sóller Train
If you’re looking for a fun and iconic way to get to Soller from Palma then the historic Soller Train is one of the best options.
The vintage tram takes you on a scenic journey through the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains, offering breathtaking views of the countryside along the way.
The train itself is a work of art, with its classic wooden carriages and antique locomotive, and riding it is like taking a step back in time.
To take the Historic Soller Train, you’ll need to head to the Plaza de España station in Palma, where the train departs several times a day.
You can check all the schedule information here. The journey takes around an hour, and the train stops at several stations along the way, including the charming town of Bunyola.
If you’re arriving in Soller Mallorca by car, fear not. The train actually terminates at Port de Soller so you can easily board in Soller and take the train to Port de Soller instead.
The journey is short but you can still experience the fun train ride and see the beautiful scenery along the way.

Explore the Jardí Botànic de Sóller
This beautiful botanical garden is home to a stunning collection of plants and flowers, with over 400 species on display from all over the world. From towering palm trees to fragrant lavender fields, there’s something for everyone to enjoy here.
As soon as you enter the garden, you’re surrounded by a sense of tranquility and calm, making it the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the center of town.
For that extra sense of peace, try to plan your visit for first thing in the morning. It’s also a great spot to bring a coffee and a book and relax for a while.
Exploring Soller’s Old Town
Soller’s old town is a must-see destination in itself and taking a walk around it is one of the best things to do in Soller, Mallorca.
In fact, it’s probably the best thing to start with as you will pass many of Soller’s best attractions that feature in this guide too.
Soller’s old town is a charming and picturesque area filled with narrow streets, colorful buildings, and a mix of local shops and eateries.
Start your tour at the Plaça Constitució, the town’s main square, which is home to the Soller Cathedral and a variety of cafes and restaurants.
After exploring the cathedral, make your way down the narrow streets that lead away from the square. You’ll find plenty of small shops selling everything from handmade ceramics to local produce and souvenirs.
As you wander through the old town, keep an eye out for the stunning modernist buildings that can be found throughout the area.
One of the most famous is Can Prunera, a beautifully restored modernist house that now serves as a museum (more on this below).
Make sure to also make a stop at one of the stunning cafes and restaurants while exploring. Stop for a coffee and a pastry at Cafe Scholl, which is famous for its delicious ensaimadas, a sweet pastry filled with cream or jam.
Visit the Can Prunera Museum of Modernism
Another highlight of Soller’s old town is the Can Prunera Museum of Modernism. This beautifully restored, early 20th Century mansion is a work of art in itself, with its stunning facade and intricate details.
Inside, you’ll find a collection of art and design from the modernist period, including works by artists such as Picasso, Miro, and Gauguin.
Apart from painting and sculpture, you’ll also find furniture and decorative objects on display too. It’s a great place to escape the heat of the day and see both local and international art.
Hike to the top of Puig de l’Ofre
If you’re looking for a challenging hike that will take you through some of the most stunning scenery in Mallorca, look no further than the route to Puig de l’Ofre.
This hike is not for the faint of heart, but the views from the top are well worth the effort. From here, you can see all the way to the coast and beyond, and on a clear day, you can even see the island of Menorca in the distance.
The Puig de l’Ofre hike in Soller, Mallorca starts at the Refugi de Muleta, which is located near the lighthouse of Cap Gros.
The hike then follows a well-marked trail through the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
At the summit of Puig de l’Ofre which is the highest point in the Tramuntana mountains, you’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
The entire hike takes about 6-7 hours round trip and covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers.

Visit Fornalutx
Often voted as the most beautiful town in Spain, Fornalutx really is a treat for the eyes that’s worth visiting when in Soller. Located just outside Soller, this stunning mountain town is surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains, verdant olive trees, and blue skies.
Its buildings, all made with the same local, ochre stone you’ll see in Deia and Valldemossa are some of the prettiest on the island.
Fornalutx is tiny and there isn’t too much to do here but stroll around, take photos of every corner, and have a coffee or two in the local cafes. Even still, with its lack of things to do, it’s simply unmissable- it really is a fairytale village.
For those wanting to make their trip a little more active, it’s possible to hike from Soller to Fornalutx on a fairly easy hiking trail that takes just a couple of hours.
It’s a great way to spend the day in the mountains and see the charming little village.
If you’re not hiking it’s also possible to bike or drive to Fornalutx but make sure to do so early because parking is scarce.
The Cap Gros Lighthouse
Cap Gros Lighthouse or Soller Lighthouse is one of the best spots for panoramic views of the stunning coastline around Soller, Mallorca. This historic, 19th Century lighthouse is perched atop a cliff overlooking the sea, and it offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.
Today, the lighthouse is still in operation and its light can be seen from miles away.
Cap Gros Lighthouse is located just by Port de Soller and you’ll be able to see it from town. It’s best visited by car but you can also visit by bicycle or even taxi. The best time to visit is at sunset as the sky turns golden.

Try Local, Traditional Majorcan Food
Mallorca is known for its delicious cuisine which has a central focus on locally sourced ingredients. You’ll be able to try some of the best local foods and dishes in Soller. Here are some of the best places to try traditional cuisine in Soller.
- Ca’n Boqueta – a gorgeous, family-run restaurant serving local, homemade dishes using seasonal ingredients.
- Bar Restaurant Es Pont – a very casual spot for drinks and local dishes.
- Ca’n Pintxo Restaurant – One of the best tapas spots in Soller. The food is more Basque-inspired than Mallorcan but it’s still definitely worth a visit.
Admire the Facade of Soller Bank
On Placa de la Constitució, just next to Soller Cathedral, you’ll find Soller Bank or Casa Consistorial. The façade was also designed by the architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, who was a disciple of Gaudí and was completed in 1912.
The building is a perfect example of modernist architecture and is one of the most photographed sites in Sóller.
On the facade, you’ll also notice the intricate stonework and details, including the use of wrought iron and mosaics. It features a variety of geometric shapes and patterns, and its style really makes it stand out from the surrounding buildings.
Visit the Orange Groves of Ecovinyassa
Ecovinyassa is a gorgeous organic citrus farm located right outside Soller. Here you’ll be able to discover the most famous produce from Soller, the citrus fruits that contributed directly to Soller’s wealth and growth throughout the ages.
Here you can walk amongst the orange groves, learn about the history of orange trees in Soller as well as enjoy nature in its blissful state.
You can also have a go at orange picking as well as taste a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. On-site you can also buy a number of different organic products like marmalades.
For those that enjoy nature and peaceful destinations make sure not to miss this gem.

Take a Trip to Port de Soller
Just north of Sóller, towards the coast, you’ll find Port de Sóller, a good place for an afternoon at the beach.
There aren’t any real sights here but it is the perfect spot for dining and strolling. Port de Soller’s a lovely place for a walk around the promenade, a sun-downer, or a sunset dinner to end the day.
You can visit Port de Sóller on the traditional Port Soller tram which leaves from the center of Sóller. It’s also possible yet less fun, to drive. If you’re renting a bike you can also cycle to Port de Soller.
Shop at the Saturday Market
If you happen to be in Sóller on Saturday, make sure to check out the Farmer’s Market. Vendors from all around the area come to Soller to sell their products on Saturdays. You can expect a wide variety of products to choose from.
From fruit and vegetables to plants, textiles, and handicrafts you’ll be able to pick up almost anything at the market. It’s the perfect place to grab some local foods for a picnic on the beach or shop for gifts for family and friends back home.
The market runs from 9 am until 2 pm. It’s centrally located in Plaza de Sa Constitució and the surrounding streets.
Go on a Sailing Trip
One of the best things to do in Soller is actually getting on the water and enjoying the northern coast of Mallorca.
Mallorca is one of the top sailing destinations in the world so getting out on the water and seeing the coastline from a different perspective is well worth it.
One of the best coves near Soller is Sa Calobra and while you can drive there, going there by boat is much more fun. This boat trip to Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis will take you to the most stunning spots on the northern coastline and you’ll also have the opportunity for some swimming and hiking. Visit Santuari de Lluc
For those visiting Soller by car, another great place to visit fairly nearby is the gorgeous Lluc Monastery. Located an hour’s drive from Soller, along the stunning and winding MA-10 road, Lluc is a tiny village famous for its iconic monastery.
Lluc Monastery dates back to the 13th century and is said to be the spiritual heart of Mallorca. It’s home to a revered statue of the Virgin Mary and lovely religious architecture.
You can tour the church, which boasts stunning Gothic architecture, and explore the tranquil gardens surrounding the monastery.
There’s also a museum that houses a collection of artifacts related to the monastery’s history. It makes the perfect morning trip from Soller, a day trip, or a great stop on the way from Soller to Pollença.
Best Places to Eat and Drink in Soller
While exploring all the best things to do in Soller, make sure to also dive deep into the town’s dining scene.
There are many exceptional restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can spend long summer evenings in relaxing and tasting the amazing local cuisine.
Here are some of my personal favorites:
Cafe Scholl – one of the best spots for coffee and their delicious ensaimadas, a sweet pastry filled with cream or jam. It’s a Mallorcan specialty and must be tried!
Re Organic– Organic and sustainable restaurant serving beautiful and vibrant dishes. It’s one of the best vegan restaurants in Soller. There’s also a shop too if you need to pick up some sustainable supplies.
Bar Molino – A lovely local spot great for a drink and light bites. They also have a number of salads and main dishes. A great choice for local cuisine in a cozy atmosphere.
Can Pintxo -A great spot for delicious, Basque-style tapas and local wines.
Ca’n Boqueta– A more upscale dining experience. Gorgeous Mallorcan food and great service. At lunchtime, they also do a very affordable set menu so make sure not to miss it.
Can Llimona– for those seeking something a little different this little Italian restaurant is a gem. Come here for their specialty pasta dishes.
