The new year is upon us again and it’s a time to look back at the last year, at our successes and failures and look to the future and how to make the next year the best one yet. December and January are great months to think about your goals for the next year, both big and small and think what it is you’d like to have achieved by this time next year whether that’s personally or professionally. Your plans don’t have to be huge like setting up your own business or having such amount in your bank account. This can be really daunting! Small goals, count too, towards making you healthier, happier and living your best life. Here are 5 actionable New Year Resolution ideas that you can incorporate into your life now to start feeling great.
In order to really achieve your new year’s resolutions, you’re going to have to commit, so to start you’ll need to think about what you really want to achieve this year. Then, write them down and tell someone, this will hold you accountable to your resolutions and by having them on paper or visible on your computer they’ll feel more real. If your goal is big i.e. earn more money, try writing an action plan outlining how you’re going to get there. What steps are you actually going to take to get to that final goal?

OUR 5 ACTIONABLE NEW YEARS RESOLUTION IDEAS:
Exercise Daily.
There is no doubt that movement is great for the body and the mind. Exercise has a way of making us feel alive, focused and refreshed. Now is a great time to start out that new fitness routine you’ve been planning or why not finally get that gym membership? Workouts don’t have to be a gruelling sweat session at 5 am. Why not try walking or cycling more or perhaps taking up yoga or climbing? It all counts. If you’re struggling for ideas for workouts don’t forget to check out all my simple, bodyweight workouts here which you can do from anywhere!
Increase Your Productivity
The older I get, the faster the years seem to pass and that’s also true for days. How often do you find yourself thinking, ‘Where did my day go?’ Try to plan your days thoroughly to be as constructive as possible and in-line with your new year resolution ideas. Be conscious about the time you spend browsing social media, watching TV or just staring into space. All the lost time can add up. There are so many tools that can help you increase your productivity from podcasts to todo lists and journals. Not all methods and tools work for everyone but I personally use the Productivity Planner which helps me track the importance of my tasks each day. You can check out the Productivity Planner on Amazon here and see if it can help you too.
Get One Hour More Sleep a Night
Recent studies now show the damaging effects of little sleep on our long-term health, which is quite mind-blowing. Longer sleep patterns are now linked to a longer and healthier life. A great new year resolutions idea is to try getting one more hour every night. While it may sound like it’s easier said than done, try committing to getting to bed a little earlier each night, even if you start with just 15 minutes earlier than normal. You’ll notice the benefits in the short term as well as the long term.
TOP TIP: It’s often technology and socials that distract us from getting to sleep earlier so if that’s you try the ‘no technology in the bedroom rule’ or ‘no technology after 8pm’ rule to really reap the rewards.
Drink More Water
We should all be aiming to drink at least 2 litres of water daily. This is a great new year resolution ideas. Our bodies are primarily made up of water and being well hydrated can help to keep your mind focused, your skin looking clearer and younger and your physical performance on point. I feel myself starting to lag when I don’t drink enough water, especially when I’m travelling in hotter climates and exercising daily. Having a large water bottle handy can be the push you need to drink up.
My favourite water bottles are this LARQ self-cleaning water bottle for travelling or one like this from Simple Modern for everyday use.

Laugh More
You only get one stab at life and trying to live it to the fullest is paramount. This year I learned that most problems have a way of fixing themselves and I don’t need to spend that much time worrying and stressing about the smallest of issues. By worrying less and laughing more we can squeeze moments of joy into every single day and anyway, a smile looks good on anyone.
