Why do a Wellness Retreat in Bali?
Well, why on earth not do some relaxing, rejuvenating and splendid health retreats in Bali?
Bali is one of the most popular places in the world for wellness, yoga, and meditation. The magical island draws hundreds of thousands of individuals per year seeing relaxation, alignment with self, connection, new energy, and learning.
Bali has a different energy- it’s not called Island of the Gods for just no reason- which makes it one of the best spots around for a retreat.
The Religion & Culture
Given Bali’s Hindu background, ancient culture, and religion, there’s much to learn and a deepened spiritual connection to be experienced in Bali.
Yoga may have originally come from India but due to the island’s Hindu background, today no place in the world flourishes more than Bali when it comes to learning and developing one’s yoga practice.
The Weather
Bali also has some pretty great weather too to enjoy when on retreat. The warm, tropical climate means that it’s the perfect place for those seeking to get away from a chilly winter and connect with nature.
I wouldn’t visit Bali in the middle of the rainy season but the dry season, which runs from April to October sees beautiful sunny days and cooler weather.
The Nature
Bali has some pretty spectacular landscapes and natural spots to explore, from towering waterfalls to Mount Agung, Bali’s epic volcano. There are also some pretty stunning beaches, glistening rice terraces, and forests.
In Bali, it’s so easy to get into and connect with nature, another reason why the island makes such a great place for a wellness retreat.
The People
We all know that it’s often the people that make the place and in Bali, this rings especially true. Balinese locals are generally extremely friendly and helpful people and are very willing to go out of their way to help and form connections.
The same goes for other travelers. Given that the magical island is already a known hotspot for wellness travel, yoga, self-development, and meditation you’ll be able to meet many like-minded individuals with the same goals as you.
The island is full of retreat-goers and those looking to better themselves and find a deeper purpose.
The Food
If you’ve traveled to South East Asia before then you’ll already know about the amazing food. Bali is a foodie paradise, not only for the amount of great local food on offer but also for the plenty of quality world cuisines you can find.
If you’re someone (like us) who loves healthy eating and conscious cuisine then Bali might be the best place there is.
You’ll find healthy cafes on every corner, amazing coffee and coffee culture, local warungs selling the best local cuisine as well as fine dining from world cuisines. When in Bali, get ready to eat!

When is the Best Time to Visit Bali
Bali has two distinct seasons, the rainy season and the dry season.
The rainy season runs from October- March and the dry season is from April-October. The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season.
In the wet season things can get pretty wet indeed and can stop you from fully taking advantage of the island, however, you will benefit from fewer crowds and cheaper prices at this time.
You’ll also want to avoid the months of July and August when things get really busy, as well as Christmas and Easter vacations too. At this time, prices for health retreats and accommodation can triple too.
Personally, I’d say that May, June, and September are the best times to visit Bali.
The Best Wellness Retreats in Bali
There are hundreds of yoga retreats in Bali, each offering a combination of activities like yoga, meditation, surfing, breathwork, etc with various focuses.
In recent years, Bali has become one of the most popular destinations in the world for yoga. Given the island’s Hindu origins, many come here to strengthen and develop their practice or attend a yoga teacher training course.
Here are some of our personal choices for a wellness retreat in Bali. They can all be booked through the top retreat booking websites Book Yoga Retreats and Book Retreats where you can find the best of the world’s yoga and wellness retreats. Resorts can also be booked through their respective properties.
I’ve ordered this post by retreat type to make it easier to navigate to exactly the type of retreat you’re looking for.
